Over to Dover

Wednesday morning, September 26, Dave headed north on 17 to Dover, Delaware  He and neighbors Bud, Tom and Candy were motor homing to Dover Speedway for the Nationwide/Sprint races being held from the 27th to the 30th. Bud's wife, Doreen, and I followed on Friday afternoon in our new Jeep Wrangler. It was an uneventful ride for all of us; which is a good thing! The route was easy, 17 to 13 to seat section 120. Races on both Saturday and Sunday were uneventful as well. But we all had a good time at the Monster Mile. On Monday, October 1st, we broke camp at the racetrack and headed south on 13. After crossing over the Chesapeake Bridge Tunnel we continued to Virginia Beach KOA, while Doreen and Bud continued to New Bern. Arriving at the KOA we find ourselves at site 47 and it was good to be able to plug into electric and turn on the water faucet after dry camping at the track. How spoiled we are! We took a quick trip into Va Beach, which is quite desolate this time of year. No crowds and most places seemed to be closed for the season. We peered into a few restaurants hoping to find some good seafood; all we found were over-inflated prices, so we steered to the four corners near the KOA and stopped at a sportsbar and had some steamed clams, BudLight, Cap n Coke, and burgers. Tomorrow we are hoping for good weather to explore the area.
